We were in Kindergarten together and apparently caused such a ruckus that we were never placed us in the same class for the next 12 years. We spent a lot of time together, had most of the same friends, and lived 1/16 of a country mile from each other. Biking, building forts inside and outside, playing at the farm, playing in the golf course, jumping old snowmobiles on said golf course, watching "In Living Color" and the "Aresenio Hall Show" (can you believe he is back?!), listening to music everything from Crystal Gayle to Michael Jackson and New Edition. Seriously. So many great memories.
Here is us...a long time ago at the family farm.
And their story begins a long time ago as well. Shawn and Lori met in 7th or 8th grade which was about the time I moved to VA with my family for the next two years, so details are fuzzy. What started out as friends grew into the love they have today plus two adorable little kiddos, well they aren't little anymore. They are hilarious together, kind to each other, and never take each other too serious or for granted.
For the past year and a half, things in their life has turned upside down. In 2012, Lori was diagnosed with ALS and last year was also diagnosed with Lyme's disease. Her faith is strong and steadfast, she believes in God and know that He will walk with her, help her and create a miracle for her health. Her body may be faltering, but her spirits and positivity isn't.
Lori knowing and unknowingly of what may lie ahead for her future wanted to capture her family before the affects of the disease would take ahold of her body. So the fall of 2012 that is what we did. The day was gorgeous and sun was shinning, perfect for this beautiful inside and out family. So the natural place to do their session was our family farm. I do a lot of sessions there, but this one means something. Growing up there is memories around every corner for all of us.
And right now Lori and her family is in the need for assistance. She has been on medical leave from her job since November. Getting around has become increasingly difficult for Lori. And really this family is about as proud as they come and to ask for help isn't the easiest thing in the world for them. But they need to get a handicap vehicle for Lori and to help with medical expenses to remain in their home.
Here is the link for you to give if you so choose HERE Please keep Lori, Shawn, Elisbeth, and Ian in your prayers.
