In the effort to get editing caught up, I have to take a break from the blog updates. I have a bunch of new stuff that needs to be uploaded on here, but I have even more sessions to get to yet. trying to keep it cool {Central Minnesota Senior Photographer}

It was a lovely fall Tuesday morning. These days I loooove. The farm was quiet and still a perfect day for a photo session with Miss "A".

So completely natural.

Just a little something fun.

To think that light like this can only come in the late afternoon. Nope, early morning is a wonderful time to shoot a session.

But at this point is when I lost my cool...no, I didn't get mad and nor do I think that I have a lot of "cool" to lose. But as I was framing the shot in that series, I felt something at my foot, I looked down only to see and feel a snake slither across my right foot. Yes, perfectly harmless, yes, my logical brain tells me that, but needless to say....I lost my cool. Poor "A", had no idea what was making me wig out. So sorry "A", that you had to witness that first hand. ☺ Then it was back to being professional me, without my cool.

This session is totally summer. However, believe it or not...it was officially autumn by the calendar. It was a beautiful fall-summery day, a real rarity this fall.
I had such a blast this session! I mean, how could I not....chasing barefoot after little ones in the gorgeous sunshine, on my favorite local beach. I ♥ my job.
Two sisters and one cousin. They started off a little shy. But that was about to break loose.

As I am clicking, and running after them, I was thinking, "I love these shots...and my this is one loooooong beach!" Whew!

...come again, well, when I don't have a sessions scheduled. I cannot believe how many sessions I have had to move because of the rain. Blah.
And good thing we were persistant this evening. Because when I was driving to meet Miss "M", it started to rain. Just a bit. We got a few frames shot and then, it really started to fall. Looking off to the west, we could see sun and the hopes for an open sky were high. So we waited. Them under an umbrella and me under a very big reflector. I am glad we waited. Cause the sunset that was just beyond the clouds was worth the wait.

I just giggle a bit thinking about Miss "J's" session. Cause it's not unlike other senior sessions in that sometimes it takes just a bit to get the "real" personality to come out and usually by the end of the session, they are getting into it and a bit more....er, comfortable. Which I love.

Again, another senior that says "I don't know what to do or how to stand". And again, I say "whatever". Cause to me Miss "E" did just fine. She is completely a natural. Don't let me tell you...take a look for yourself.

And this one makes me crazy. Crazy in that she was getting bothered by her hair as it was a windy day, so she fixed it. Like, in 2 minutes and it looked this stinkin' cute.

I think there is something really cool when you know your neighbors. I mean that may sound incredibly simple but there is something quaint, comforting, Normal Rockwell-quesce about it. And a family like this is a blessing to not only have in your neighborhood but to have in your life. I enjoy our little chats when they are on dog walking patrol, I appreciate little household expertise...wink wink Ken. ☺

During a senior session I like to ask my clients "what do you want to be when you grow up?". And the answers are as varied as the personalities as I come across, to very defined and determined, to undecided, to a complete shrug of the shoulders type of an answer. This is when I say,"You are young... you'll figure it out." There have been a few senior clients along the way that are wanting to do what I do. Photography. I love my job so much and it took me a little while to find that, but the path to it was just as it should be.
So meet Miss "H", quiet, sweet, calm, future photog.

I think she said that she didn't know how to stand/pose/look when we first started the session. Hmmmmm....beg to differ. Cause Miss "A" looked completely comfortable, even if she didn't feel that way. A natural if you will.

And now, just a little something I would like to pass on. I don't want to say that I won't give "direction" on how to stand/pose/look for photos, cause I do. A little. I really like images to look relaxed, casual, and really you.I have said that a hundred times on my site, or on this blog and even in communicating with my clients. My favorite compliment I can get other than "I love my photos!", is something to the effect of "wow, you really captured our family" or, "that is totally my kids". That is a put-my-hand-on-my-heart moment. That is what I am striving for. Don't be surprised if I don't take out my camera right away, or that I will chit-chat a bit so I can get to know you if I don't already. I don't like to rush sessions. So, I watch, I observe, I look. To see the interaction within your family, the way you naturally stand, the way you tilt your head...you know, the real you.

I arrived at Miss "E's" session at her home and when I walked in it was like walking into a music store. Guitars, piano, cellos and other various string instruments. There is so much talent in this home of three teenagers, and not just of the musical kind either. Such a fun family!
I think this session was on the hottest most humid day of the summer. I swear. We didn't have many of those sorts of days this summer, but this was the one and only. But you would never know it. Miss "E" looked stunning. And quite frankly that is all that mattered.
First stop, the gorgeous garden that her younger brother planned out and planted.

I am hangin' in there...meaning that I am editing like mad and I appreciate all my patient clients. I feel like I say that a lot. They are excited to see their images. But I am happy that they realize that I take the time on their images to make them better than they ever expected. ♥

I love to try fun things into photo session, and when Miss "T's" said "Sure!", at my suggestion... my heart went pitter patter. Cause this is what makes photos pop, tells a story, and add a bit of personality.

Sometimes I duck into my favorite antique dealer in town, and look for things that grab my attention and would fit for the session and the subject. In this case, can't get a better fit than that of a large yellow T. Perfect!

I love it when clients give me inspiration. I also love to put my little spin on it as well, such as a little "grunge" to an image just to make it rock even more!

We really could not have asked for a better evening for photos. The light was amazing. These are the evenings when I could go on and shot until the sun goes down and Miss "K" probably thought I just may do that. We squeezed a lot in, but the returns were wonderful. I hope they agree.

She has an amazing glow and complexion. And "I can rock a serious pose" pose.

After this I called it a wrap...

..but I really meant it after this one. That warm, toasty light...I couldn't let it go to waste.

No, that's not her name, but it could be. She just exudes confidence, talent and grace. Miss "M", I believe has a bright future ahead of her. Although, I never heard her play, something tells me, she can handle her own.

I say that because when I did her brother's senior photos last year, her mom told me how excited Miss "L" was for her session, a whole long year from then.
So it's her turn. And no offense to her big brother J, she was waaaay more excited than you ;). But being that she is a girl, it's to be expected.
So here you go L...your turn.

That would be one word that I think fits Miss "A" the best. Carefree. I could also through in free spirit. Fun loving. Confident. Yep, you probably get the point. I had a great time on this session. Her/my ☺ assistants, aka Mom and sister added even extra fun and laughs.

Ooo, I love a photo that just calls for a vintage look.

And finally..."A" brought out the real her. Yes, from her extreme toxic shirt to the crocs that evidently have seen a lot.

oh craziness! {Central Minnesota Photographer}

Yes, it is crazy-busy...not just busy, but crazy-busy. I will say that since the kids...meaning mine, are back in school, there is a slight decrease in running all over the place. However, since July and August was a record for me as far as number of sessions, it has put me behind in editing. I truly thank my clients for their patience!
Now, to introduce Miss "L". She is an absolute doll, figuratively and physically. Her beautiful fair skin, and dark hair reminds me of a china doll. Simply perfect.

"L" wanted to have part of her session at her home...I am so glad we did.

6 changes of clothes, two sour green apples, a few hundred mosquitoes, 2 toy automobiles, a wheatfield, a few tractors, and well, a lot of cows....oh and two cute boys. Not that I was keeping track, it's just that we fit a lot in this photo session. So try to keep up, I barely did!

A little game that we played that got a lot of smiles...and some really close shots. Which I love!

Oh, so much stuff to do on a farm.

And these boys were so sweet to each other.

And alas, they are still boys. This one still cracks me up everytime I see it!
