{dandylions} Central Minnesota Photographer

Yep, as many dandylions that little Miss "A" blew around the farm, she probably ingested just as many.

The flowers were simply gorgeous and to a little darling only 2 ft. tall probably felt as if she were in fairyland.

I love these ones, cause she is giving me dandylions to blow all over.

Nothing says cute like a baby brother in a basket, in a garden getting a kiss from his big sister. Suggested or not.

This is sweet "A". He did so well, until he got a little chilled. Either that or he only wanted the spotlight to himself. As it was time to get mom, dad and sister...he was not having it.

But really, in all honesty, I love these sort of family photos. The interaction rather that the reaction to a camera in your face, this type of photo tells your story. And that is just what I love to do.

{what to wear for familes} Central Minnesota Photographer

One of the most asked questions I get when booking a photo session is, "What do we wear?" My first response is; clothes that you would normally wear. Like if you wear jeans and t-shirts...then wear them. If you like dress shirts and khaki's...wear that. Nothing is more "un-you" than you wearing something you would never wear in real life, right?

My next suggestion is don't do matchy-matchy. I say there is a difference in coordinating and matching. Like everyone in all one color, white or black, or whatever. What this does is leave the image looking flat, sort of boring. The eye doesn't know where to land and what to look at first. And if everyone is in one color for group shots...it tends to look like floating heads, cause the all-one-color blends everyone together to look like a blob. This I say usually, not always. There is something to be said for shades of white on a beach. If you insist in all one color, I won't stop you, I will say this; go with shades of the color you choose. Pair white with tans, grays...maybe a white linen dress with gray tank.

I do say, pick a color combination of three or four colors, for example; green, brown and off-white or navy, white and yellow. I also would say a few patterns, but not everyone in a pattern. Solids are best, but to have one or two people in a coordinating pattern. This works really nicely when there is someone in the group that has two or the three colors in your combination in the print. It ties the color combination all together.

Another suggestion is no real large graphics or words. There is an exception, if there if we do individual shots, but typically in group shots it is distracting. Certain graphics and words, can also be dating to your portrait and as we would like these to be timeless...if little Michael has on a shirt that says "2009"..well there you go, dated. Literally.

And since my photos are more of the casual nature..I suggest just that. Since most of my photography is taken outdoors, nothing looks more off than fancy dresses, shirt and ties in a field...unless we "grunge" the outfit up, I guess.

I have put together a sample of "what to wear". I hope to add this more often to my blog as I feel it will help in deciding what you and your family should wear to make your portraits the best they can be.

Sorry for the pixelated images. All these outfits can be found at oldnavy.com

{just the way it goes} Central Minnesota Photographer

I love to do newborn photos. Ok, I love to do almost all photos, but newborns...to sound cliché, it is such a miracle. I love to see their little fine baby hair on their little wrinkly arms. Or the small noises they make. And some make big noises...ok, a lot do. So, Mr. "C", was no exception. I have a little secret, I guess not a secret, but something to say about newborn photography. It. Takes. Time. I am patient because most of the time the session has a lot of this...

and this...

and a lot of parents looking like this....

all in the effort to get this...

and this...

Congratulations "Z" family.

{love} Central Minnesota Photographer

A wedding. Yes, that I did. Once in a while, one of these special occasions work themselves into my work calendar. And I am always glad they did. Nice, laid back, lovely, happily now-married couple. Yes, I can manage that.
We'll start of with a few details.

Something old, and something blue.

I saw this in one of the nearby shoppes..I couldn't resist.

First look.

A prayer. I love this one.

God's Blessings.

{beautiful maternity} Central Minnesota Photographer

Well, I have to say I am jealous, not the fact that she is pregnant and I am not, just that to look that good being pregnant, but even more, this is baby number four. Seriously?
And I have to say I kind of feel bad, the session was sort of like Maternity session on the Amazing Race. She was such a great sport. Whatever I asked her to do she said "sure!", not even a second guess. Like "Hey, want to stand in the front of your large picture window with no top...How about going down to the lake, walk over slippery rocks, and through overgrown foliage?" Her answer always made me smile, and feel bad in a smallish sort of way.
So without further ado...

And we...well, I am sure her more than me, are patiently awaiting baby's arrival. Soon, the baby won't stay in there forever.

{senior rep} Central Minnesota Photographer

Meet Miss "C". She is officially a senior, class of 2010 (don't cry Heidi), and a senior representive to Jennifer Guenther Photography. I am so proud of that and the lovely, young lady she has become.
Here is a sneak peak. You will be seeing more to come at a later date.

For those that are graduating in 2011, which seems far away, but will be here in a blink, keep in mind about being a senior representive for me. There are lots of benefits in being a senior rep. Free prints, free sessions! Who wouldn't love that? Just contact me now for more information as I will be looking for reps the end of summer, being of autumn of this year.

{adorable} Central Minnesota Photographer

Well, apparently I don't know when to say when or that the fact that this soon-to-be-family of 5 is that darn cute I couldn't help myself, because when I got home from this session and saw the unbelievable number of images I took, I, well....couldn't believe it (how is that for a run-on sentence?).
So without further ado, Miss E, Miss L and baby, oh yeah, Mom & Dad were there as well.

{sneak peak and a test} Central Minnesota Photographer

A new blog! Oh thank you Tara! You rock!!
I will be posting more of this lovely young lady and her family soon. I just wanted to test drive the new blog.

I will be adding some features to this blog. So hang tight and check back often.

[sand beneath my toes] Central Minnesota Photographer

It felt so good to run around on the beach. These toes haven't seen the light of day for...well, about 6 months. I could tell the little ones of the "P" family felt the same way. They certainly made me work for it, so much energy. If they could harness that, it would surely rivel Solar and Wind energy.

Let the summer begin.
